“Giving honest and well-intended feedback is often confused with being mean. it’s not mean; it’s nice”

GIVING BACK FEEDBACK
Reflecting on the first part of the semester, I've come to appreciate the impact of giving feedback to my peers, particularly Anren, Philip, and Pranshu. Throughout our time together, I've provided constructive insights on nearly every assignment. This experience has been eye-opening for me; by closely analyzing their work, I've not only been able to identify strengths and areas for improvement in their writing but have also gained a deeper understanding of these elements in my own work.
Offering feedback has made me more aware of our differing writing styles, and has given me inspiration to write in certain ways. It's interesting how discussing their ideas often leads me to reflect on my own writing style and approach.
Moreover, I’ve noticed that as I help my peers refine their work, I'm also improving upon my own skills. For example, when I notice tiny issues appearing in my peer’s writing, I tend to also check for similar problems in my writing. Looking back, I realize that this experience has been just as beneficial for me as it has been for them, and I’m excited to continue this journey together.
Term 2 Update: Similarly to the previous term, I continued to give feedback whenever requested and even took initiative to ask to review others’ work as it gives me the opportunity to learn a different perspective myself.
